We're now staying at Barrewood Campground in Westfield, VT. The town has a general store (also the gas station), a post office in the back of someone's house and one restaurant. It does however have a hardware store. It looks like a converted garage, but it's better than nothing.

The weather has been sometimes as high as 80^o and sometimes as low as 26^O. When the temperature is high you get black flies (they bite) and it rains every other day.

The trail is never flat, always wet and sometimes snow.

These two pictures are of Jay Peak, a skiing area. One is from about 5 miles away looking up and the other is from the inside of the building at the top. Guess who took which picture???

There are many shelters along the trail and are of many different types. Some are like houses and are completely enclosed with woodburning stoves. Some are open lean-to's. Guess which one Judy passed up on her 2 day hike and which one she stayed in??? Hint: It got to 26^o and she got really cold.

I hiked up a side trail (about 1.5 miles) and met her one day. There was a shelter there that was nice.

Guess what else is in the area??? I even had 3 samples...
